Baked Beans and Kielbasa

This dish is a Schroeder family staple.  We have this at almost every family gathering—holidays, cookouts, and birthdays.  Easy to make since you just mix everything together and put in oven.  It is not overly spicy but has a little kick from the sauerkraut and cayenne.

2-28oz. cans pork and beans, drained

1 pkg. kielbasa or smoked sausage, cut into ½ inch pieces

1 cup sauerkraut, drained and chopped finely

1 large onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup ketchup

1 cup brown sugar,2 T. garlic powder

½ T. cayenne pepper

1 T. prepared mustard

Mix all ingredients together and spoon into a large roaster sprayed with cooking spray.  Bake uncovered at 350 for one hour, turn oven off and leave roaster in oven for an additional hour until most of the juice is absorbed.  Be careful and check occasionally so beans do not get too dry.  Enjoy!
